Waist-up

For most of the picture I used the Pen tool to create the shapes then the Knife tool to divide up the shape for highlights or shadows. The facial features were painted on and the watch is a skewed rounded rectangle. I decided to leave the Aperture Science wristband out of the final picture.

Tracing and Inking

This practice taught me how to use the Knife tool, one of the variants of the Eraser tool.

I now know how to use the Paintbrush and Fill tools. On a related note, drawing with a mouse is very difficult.

I learned that it's easier to type the text first, then put a bubble around it.

I used a gaussian blur for the red bird's motion lines.
